Matt Vogrich Update

January 9, 2009

vogrich1I have had a tough time tracking down good information on Darius Morris and Blake McLimans and how they are doing this season. I have been able to keep track of Matt Vogrich thanks to the Lake Forester.

Vogrich’s Lake Forest team is 10-3 so far this season. According to my calculations Vogrich is averaging about 23 points per game this season. In their game on Wednesday Vogrich scored 35 points including 17 in a key fourth quarter run to help the Scouts ice the game. Click here for a complete story on the game.

Lake Forest played in the State Farm Holiday Classic and finished 3-1. Vogrich was named to the all tournament team.

Earlier this season Lake Forest lost to Warren 70-62 in OT. Warren is led by Illinois bound Brandon Paul. Vogrich outscored Paul 39-31 in the game. Vogrich scored 18 of Lake Forest’s first 20 points in the game.

I will keep hunting around for info on Morris and McLimans, anybody who can with that please contact me. I am working on a Jordan Morgan update.

2009 Recruiting Class

November 14, 2008

Michigan kicked off the early signing period by receiving 4 letters of intent. The 2009 recruiting class is a good one and fills many of the needs the team has. Here are the commits:

Darius Morris: 6-4 PG, from Los Angeles, California
Blake McLimans: 6-10 F, from Hamburg, New York
Jordan Morgan: 6-8 F, from Detroit, Michigan
Matt Vogrich: 6-4 SG, from Lake Forest, Illinois

MGoBlue has a good write up on the class, including Coach Beilein’s comments on each player.
Here is the link MGoBlue

Morris is a highly rated point guard. Vogrich was recently named the best shooter in the 2009 class by The Sporting News. McLimans is a versatile big man who Beilein thinks could be a star. Morgan is a good all around player with good size.

The Wolverines will lose 3 players from this years squad and they are David Merritt, CJ Lee, and Jevohn Shepherd.

This is what the roster should look like next year:
