Wednesday night Michigan (13-3, 3-1) will play Illinois (14-2, 2-1) for the second time in 10 days. Michigan won the first meeting at Crisler 74-64. The Fighting Illini featured a balanced attack on offense. Trent Meacham leads the team in scoring with 12.3 points per game. Demetri McCamey checks in at 12.0 points per game. Big men Mike Davis and Mike Tisdale each average over 11 points per game. Despite all of those numbers Chester Frazier is still the key to this team. He is an excellent defender averaging 1.3 steals per game. He only scores 5.6 ppg but dishes out 6.2 apg and grabs 4.3 rpg per game. You know a Bruce Weber coached team will play hard and play tough defensively.
After losing at Michigan the Fighting Illini crushed Indiana at home 76-45.
Michigan is fresh off one of their best played games this season in a win over Iowa. Kelvin Grady has done an outstanding job running the team. He might only be averaging 5.7 points and 2.6 assists per game but he is only turning the ball over at a 0.7 per game clip and that is impressive considering the way he pushes the tempo.
Manny Harris ranks second in the Big Ten in scoring with 18.6 points per game. DeShawn Sims is third with 16.4 ppg.
Sims leads the Big Ten in rebounding with 8.4 per game. Harris is third with 7.8 rpg. Manny also ranks 5th averaging 4.8 assists per game.
Zack Novak is 11th in the conference in 3 point % checking in at 41% on the season from behind the arc.
The game is scheduled to tip at 8:30 and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.
